The Loose Women were rediscovered by Gordon Newton in 1983 when he appealed, "Loose Women Required for A Respectable Pastime". Instead of being approached by the police & people of ill repute, surprisingly a number of seemingly sensible women expressed an interest. Our name originates from the village of Loose which is a few miles to the south of Maidstone in Kent.

The Loose Women dance our own interpretation of Border Morris, which is a 'loose', loud, stompy style of dancing. The only hankies you'll find in this team will be to blow our noses on.

The reputation of the Loose Women goes before us. This is of a raucous & unruly pack of beer swilling females, who enjoy nothing better than sitting in the sun, supping on a cool drink, Oh...and doing some dancing now & again. We are laid back to the point of unconsciousness.

The social aspect is very important to the side & sometimes the Morris Dancing may seem somewhat of a sideline. But when we do dance, we really dance.


If you think you can stand the pace, we always welcome new members. 

When we're not dancing out (called "stands") we practice at a secret location near the source of the river Loose on most Thursday evenings (and the occasional Sunday morning).
